A New Hana Pravda: Hannah D. Scott Steps Into The Good and the True, Now Playing Off-Broadway

Following visa issues that resulted in a delayed first performance, the off-Broadway American premiere of The Good and the True has found a new Hana Pravda. Hannah D. Scott has assumed the role in the off-Broadway production, replacing Isobel Pravda. She stars opposite Saul Reichlin in the Daniel Hrbek-helmed show. The play, now in previews, will open on August 3 at DR2 Theatre.

A U.K. native, Scott has appeared on stage previously in off-Broadway and regional productions including Butoh Electra, Unmanned, Barbarians and The Time of Your Life. Her on screen credits include The Dark Knight Rises, Another Side of Brooklyn and Dark Haul.

Written by Daniel and Tomas Hrbek and Lucie Kolouchova, and adapted as an English language version by Brian Daniels, the play intertwines the true testimonies of two extraordinary people—Czech athlete Milos Dobry and actress Hana Pravda. They both spent their working lives building suspense, knocking crowds into submission and drawing gasps and acclaim from spectators—but this pales in significance compared to their earlier lives enduring the indignities of incarceration and survival at the hands of occupied Czechoslovakia in the 1930s.
